Pathfinding Appointment

Bench for couple at a crossroads, couple counselling, marriage counselling

Do you have Questions about how Therapy could help?

Do you have questions about how therapy works but you're afraid to ask? Do you want to know more but don't want to start the process to find you can't commit?

Do you have a loved one who hears about your therapy and seems interested, but never looks for their own counsellor? Does your loved one express needing help but doesn't know where to start?

Are you on the path to trying something new but recently you've felt stuck? Have you tried to get help before to get frustrated with the process but don't know how to change it?

Are you looking for resources but don't know where to look?

A Different Kind of Appointment

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then a pathfinding appointment is probably the right choice for you! This type of appointment allows you to speak with a therapist in a low pressure meeting so you can explore some of your interests and questions, without needing to come back for a next session.

This session can help you to:

  • Figure out how to find the first steps of a new path or change in your life

  • Find out answers to your burning questions about therapy

  • Get you connected with resources in your community

  • Learn the best ways to look for your own therapist

  • Introduce a loved one to therapy and what they could expect

  • Get information about how the mental health care system works

  • Have a place to brainstorm next steps in our journey

Expectations and Limitations

These appointments are 50 minutes in length and are not considered psychotherapy. These appointments are intended to bridge the gap between contemplating therapy and being ready to make a change right away. This is considered just the first step on the path to change. If you attend an appointment, you will not be considered a "therapy" client of Sarah's or continue with her for ongoing intervention. However, if you are looking for your own long-term therapist, help finding one is most definitely an option.

Consultation

Should you want or need an idea of what you'll get from this session, setting up a free consultation will allow you and Sarah to discuss your expectation prior to booking.

Appointments/Rates

Appointments can be made by booking online or by emailing info@sarahghorsford.com. Appointments are 50 minutes in length and cost $80.

Missed Appointments

If you need to cancel your appointment please provide at least 24-hours notice. You may do so via online or via telephone. Should you cancel late or not attend your session you are responsible for the full session fee. Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration.

Virtual vs. In-Person Sessions

Only in-person sessions are available for these sessions at this time. This approach allows for individuals to get the most out of session. If you have concerns about this approach, please set up a time to discuss them with Sarah.
